I hope you noticed that I didn't blog last week. I've been working hard to get Lord's Love, second book in the Cottonwood series finished. When you live in a rural area and many of the people you know have purchased the book and liked it, you run the risk of being tackled in the street by those wanting the next installment. Good news! The first draft is finished and I'm going over it now. It looks like the projected September release will be fulfilled. That is if I get the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, ... drafts done and to the editor. If you haven't seen it, here is the cover for Lord's Love. This tells the story of Maggie Taylor who was supposed to be a baddy in Healing Love but absolutely refused. Being the kind author that I am, I submitted to her request to become Lydia's best friend. Maggie moves from home into an apartment over the newspaper/print shop where she works. It's an understatement to say her mother, Beulah, is not pleased. Maggie is learning about herself, how to do things her mother never let her learn and loving her independence. The last thing she wants is a relationship with a man. Lord St. John Lytton (Sinjon) is sent from England by his father, the Marquess de Montforte, who had bought up all of Sinjon's debts. The change in social status from the aristocracy to that of stable hand is just a little tough for Sinjon to handle. The only bright spot is the beautiful blonde he sees on his first day of work. The last thing he wants is not to get better acquainted with her. Those characters you know, and hopefully love, from Healing Love are all in the book which begins before Healing Love ends. No, we don't learn what happens to Cyrus, but I'm considering a short story to wrap up that lose end.
